Dad decided yesterday evening that he would like to take my family out to Scarborough in East Yorkshire.
Sherriden did not fancy the idea but Kelsy, Myself & Mum went along.
Obviously with Dad's disabilities we could not cover huge distances but he did really well, the Kapake at 11:30 seemed to give him another boost in his knees to keep plodding on through the rest of the day!
Boddy's Cafe!
We walked down Bar Street and chanced upon 'Boddy's Cafe' where we where welcomed in for a wonderful cup of coffee, Kelsy had a Hot Chocolate, Dad & I ordered a Bacon Sandwich which was in served up in no time at all. The sandwich was really nice, decent size and nice bacon. The Coffee was £1.20 per cup which is a decent price and the place was well presented and tidy. On our return we popped back into Boddy's Cafe for another drink and the place was heaving with people old and young alike. I doubt I will have to promote the place as the crowds spoke for me. Boddy's Cafe is somewhere I would recommend anyone visiting Scarborough visits.
The Central Tramway Company Scarborough Limited opened the Central Tramway in 1880 and started operating on 1 August 1881. The funicular was operated by steam, the steam house was situated away from the top station. Since drivers have no view of the cars, they use marks on the rope to indicate the car positions.
In 1910 the funicular was converted to electric drive. In 1932 the cars were replaced and the motor placed under the top station. Driving was done from a driving station at the top of the station with full view of the cars.
The track is 71 m long on a 1 in 2 gradient. The track is 1,435 mm (4 ft 8½ in) standard gauge. The funicular is operated by two cars.
The rest of the morning was spent walking along the south pier past and in the amusement arcades with Kelsy putting money into them and myself and Mum collecting coppers that has fallen out of the machines, Kelsy lost around £5.00 and we made £0.32p.
